We hesitate to place both subjects into just one blog, but as you can tell by our frequency of postings to this blog of late, both subjects are very appropriate.  It doesn’t take a whole lot of life’s tuggings on our attention or our natural tendency to put off tasks, no matter our good intentions, to find ourselves having not accomplished our goals or kept up with our plans.  So what do we do about it?………The answer is that we “learn” from it and be constantly aware of it occurring.   Ultimately our biggest concern is the time wasted by distractions and procrastination.  We all have only so much time in our lives and regret over how we’ve spent our allotment of that precious commodity is in itself a waste of time.   We hope you stay focused on your goals and actions toward them, avoiding regret.  But if not, refocus and start moving forward again.

Best to you, your family, and your business,

If you ran a traditional brick and mortar business, you’d have to plan how many of what products to stock, research what the current market for your products is like, prepare for what loss leaders will bring the most foot traffic through your door, etc.  Without making plans that take into account all the possible influences on your business or by failing to plan, you might as well plan to fail.

In a network marketing business, you must also plan.  You must set goals and then logically make action plans that will result in your achievment of those goals.  Remember that results are what determine if your efforts have been productive or not. The actions you take must move you toward your goals and any other actions that are not productive should be avoided.

A well thought out plan of action put into action will produce results.  Anything else is using a shotgun approach and results achieved are merely happenstance. Don’t let that happen to your business.

Best to you, your family and your business.

We don’t know about you, but we often wonder why opportunity is so obvious once it has passed by, but can be very difficult to recognize when it is in front of us.   Is it because we have lost our forward thinking and get so tied up in just “getting by” that  we fail to see it when it passes?  Or have so many of us just become cynical and quite frankly aren’t open to opportunity anymore?

We’d like to give you a little formula for at least not shutting out opportunity all together in your life.  It does take some effort and a little re-training of your mind, but it’s very basic and simple to implement.

Simply take time each morning to say to yourself;  What new and exciting opportunities are waiting out there for me today?   Then take about 15 seconds to just think positive thoughts.    I know this sounds a little simplistic and maybe even corny, but once you do it a few times, you will be amazed at how it makes you approach your day differently.

That’s only half the formula.  You also want to take time at the end of the day to review the positive things and opportunities that occurred that day.  Some of you may already journal, and we applaud you, because that is an excellent way to send positive thoughts to your subconscious mind and bring good things into your life.  But, if you don’t journal, then just take another 15 to 30 seconds to reflect on whether opportunity appeared that day and how you reacted to it.  If you missed it, don’t dwell on that fact, but take it as a lesson in how to do better next time.

We wish more opportunities to you, your family, and your business.

Do you notice how there seems to be an ebb and flow to your business activity and growth?  Network marketing does come in waves as far as interest from prospects and your coming across those who are ready to join your team.  That’s not what we’re talking about when we say “sputtering business”.  A sputtering business is the result of non-constant effort on your part.  Let me explain.   Have you ever found yourself working with one or more potential prospects that for one reason or another are on the fence instead of in the business and making it grow.  This part of our business is not unusual, but your response will decide whether it has a sputtering effect on your business.

Do you find yourself slowing your own activity as you think about and plan what may or will occur once these individuals are ready and do join your business?   Do you maybe even cease activity that you would otherwise be doing?   Let’s say they do come into your business after a delay period, so now you are busy working with them.  Do you see how this constant speeding up and slowing down of activity in your business is like a sputtering vehicle going down the road?  It is a chaotic way to do business and will contribute to an “emotional roller coaster” ride for you.

Let’s say you handle things a little differently.  You’ve got prospects that are on the fence.  We’re not saying that you forget them, just that they receive only a small portion of your attention and that you continue with your other business building activities, while they prepare themselves and make up their minds.  Do you see how this makes for a smoother advancement of your business towards your goals?

There lies the key.  Maintaining momentum in your activity, while following up with those who are slow to action in deciding to join your business.  Making a plan and working your plan.  Adjust your plan when your results tell you need to do so.  If you are working from your plan, then you will not have starts and stops in your activity which cause you to experience what we’re calling a “sputtering business”.

Best to you, your family, and your business.

Our topic today is one that we’re sure all of us have or will face within this industry.

Team Building Support Weekly Tips and Training Newsletter – 12/6/09

Are you afraid to ‘share your network marketing business plan’ with friends and family because you think they will make fun of you? Afraid of how to approach strangers about the your business opportunity? Then the following thoughts should be helpful to you.

Strength, courage and confidence – attributes long-desired by those seeking success and a better way to live. These are not characteristics obtained easily or awarded to those who simply show up. The only way to gain these traits is on the battlefield of life and business, in the trenches and foxholes of daily living and business combat.

Eleanor Roosevelt was right – the only way to gain strength, courage and confidence is to stop and look fear in the face. Society today often attempts to manufacture or bestow such, but without merit. Our school systems, overzealously attempting to instill self-esteem, award students for showing up, for just trying and sometimes simply for thinking about trying. Unfortunately, in the real world, rewards come only based on real action and measurable results.

A sports franchise cannot be rewarded for their preparation, a doctor cannot be compensated for good effort in the operating room, a computer programmer cannot be praised for simply learning the code and an entrepreneur cannot be honored for simply talking a good game. Trophies, awards and recognitions without real results ring hollow and in the end do not help, and often hinder, the recipient. They can begin to embrace a false confidence, which will never carry them through real challenges.

Results matter – and when it comes to the development of powerful, meaningful attributes – they can only be earned and developed by doing the things that produce those real results. Doing the thing which you think you cannot do is one of the final and most difficult tests of peak performers and top achievers. It requires you to summon strength from within and be willing to stand up, stand strong or even stand alone. Yet, in these moments, true character is formed and all the aspirational attributes are forged and fortified.

Reflect right now on your traits like strength, courage and confidence. Ponder the things you think you cannot do. Then STOP and look fear in the face – then move forward, continue to take action, produce real results and reap the prize of peak performance – attributes like strength, courage and confidence, which will in turn carry you to greater success and an increased ability to overcome obstacles and achieve the extraordinary! Share your business plan with 1 person you have been afraid to approach TODAY!

Best to you, your family, and your business.

Today we pass on to you words of wisdom from one of our mentors, Tom ”Big Al” Schreiter.

Are you a walking “bad advertisement” for your business?

“Every day the ant works all day. Every hour the ant is busy. And in the end what happens?”

“Someone steps on him.”

Many network marketers work their business every free hour they have. Weeknights, weekends, holidays, family reunions, wedding receptions, every event is an opportunity to pass out business cards, catalogs, brochures, audios and . . .

What’s happening?

These network marketers are working all day, just like the ant. They are so busy with activities, they fail to see the big picture or real goal. We just hope these networkers don’t get stepped on like the ant.

Here is a point of view that networkers should consider:

1. If you spend all your free time building your business, what is your prospect going to see? Your prospect will avoid joining your business because he doesn’t want to spend every waking hour networking.

2. If you advertise how network marketing gives you time and money freedom, yet you work your business every waking hour, doesn’t something feel wrong with this picture?

3. And what about all this activity? Networking should be simple. If all we have to do is sponsor a few people and build them into leaders, then what’s all this other activity about?

4. Would a balanced, happy life attract more prospects?

We are living advertisements for network marketing. We should be careful what our advertising says.
What does your advertising say?

Best to you, your family, and your business.

High Highs and Low Lows!

Emotions in the network marketing business can drive you crazy!  You know what I’m talking about.   Here’s an example.  You get all excited about a specific prospect that you’re approaching and thinking about how well he/she could do in your business.  You’re on cloud nine about the possibilities!  What’s that……he/she has decided to not join your business.  You now feel like “what do I do now” or “this business is just too tough”.  Sound familiar?

We all have to learn to deal with our emotions.  If you don’t learn you’ll be in a constant “roller coaster” emotional state, which is not where you want to be.  Learn to temper your emotions.  Don’t let the good things get you too excited and don’t let the bad things get you too down.  Of course this takes practice.  We’re all human and must go through these emotions, but how we choose to let them affect our state of mind is where we are in control.

Take your cue from Jim Rohn, noted successful business owner, author, and inspirational speaker, who advises us to look at both the good and bad things that occur and say to ourselves; “Isn’t that interesting!”   Using those words to help temper our emotions goes a long way to ensuring we maintain a somewhat “even keel” about the ups and downs that inevitably occur in this business.

Best to you, your family, and your business.

It’s what we’re all striving for, that time when our business takes on a life of its own and begins to have exponential growth.  It may even come and go in some respects, but true momentum is the ultimate goal.

For some, it comes rather quickly with minimal effort.  The right person or group of people join your team and the ride begins.  For others, you continue to toil away, trying to stay consistent and ever positive.  Who knows what divine power determines which state your business may be in, but rest assured of one thing.  As long as you are still “in the game” you can be sure that it will happen for you and your business.   There are quite a few who did not have the fortitude or persistence needed to reach momentum and they fall by the wayside. Don’t let yourself be one of the latter.

The experts are all touting that the current economy and recession have created an excellent environment for momentum in network marketing and MLM businesses.  Our advice to you is to “stay the course”, work even harder at this time and your harvest will not only be soon, but even larger than you’ve ever imagined.

Best to you, your family, and your business.
